Vibo Valentia hosts, from October 2nd to 6th, the VII edition of “Reading & Writing” festival. Born in 2000, the format aims to broaden its horizons over the years and to become increasingly – according to the intentions of artistic directors, Gilberto Floriani and Maria Teresa Marzano – “a privileged crossroads of languages and cultures”. The literary kermesse of the Tyrrhenian city deservedly affirms its vocation to promote books and reading, to broaden the gaze on the great themes and to do so thanks to the precious contributions of international figures. The program, very diversified, turns out to be winning and attractive in the involvement of young people but not only. Literature, but also music, science, current events. Palazzo Gagliardi in Vibo Valentia and other places in the city are the laboratory and the space in which intellectuals and artists interact with the public. Since 2012, “Reading & Writing” festival has presented hundreds of national and international guests, attracting an audience of over 50,000 spectators. In this year’s edition will be present: Stefano Benni, Mario Tozzi, Ritanna Armeni, Adriano Sofri, Luciano Violante; but also Ascanio Celestii and Danilo Rea. The festival is literature, but not only, in accordance with the slogan of the 2018 edition: “Calabria, new horizons of culture”, precisely to signify the mission of an event that grows aiming to put Calabria at the center of the debate and promoting its bridge function between the Mediterranean and Europe.
